Edgar Soto Memorial Format Change.

The date and format for the 2008 version of the Edgar Soto Memorial is changing. In 2008, our event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 14th and 15th, 2008. The 2008 edition of the Soto will be a two day criterium series with significant prize money and will run on the downtown
Nashville course from last year's Soto stage race. Saturday's criteriums will begin around mid-day with the Pro 1-2 final taking place in the early evening. The atmosphere downtown should be fantasic! On Sunday, we'll move to another venue just south of Nashville for a wide open criterium course. The Sunday criteriums will begin earlier in the morning to allow participants to get home at a reasonable time on Sunday evening.
And while not 100% confirmed, we have an some exciting and fun plans for Friday night events at the old Nashville Speedway. We hope to offer some track-like events under the lights for thrills, cash and prizes!
While the format of the Soto Memorial is changing in 2008, our attention to delivering an exceptional racing experience will remain the same. Purses for each criterium will be significant and there will be a supplemental prize list for the combined results of the Saturday and Sunday events. We're planning to host a combined USCF final similar to that put on at Athen's Twilight. The events will feature lots of intermediate sprints and preems. As always, we will ensure that the event is supported with great officials, timing resources and rider support. If you enjoyed the Soto Memorial Stage Race, we hope you'll attend the 2008 Edgar Soto Memorial Criterium Weekend. Event details will be available in early February , 2008.
Now for those of you asking "why the change," well the answer is that we are voluntarily moving aside to help support the launch the inaugural Tour
of Atlanta Stage Race promoted by Georgia Cup. The Tour of Atlanta will
be held on Memorial Day weekend from Thursday, May 23rd to Monday, May
26th. The event is ambitious and will feature 7 stages over 5 days and
great prizes. To learn more, go to
www.georgiacup.com. We hope that
all of you will attend the Tour of Atlanta as well as the Edgar Soto Memorial Criterium Weekend.
